Made this recipe and my friend from Jamaica said this is authentic as I gave her a sample. Coming from NY, there was a Chinese place where I bought this char Sui pork for my cooking. I love this family whom I bought their book and on their email. Excellent recipes!!!!

Amazing recipe! I made it exactly as is and immediately saved as a recipe to come back to. My only comment is to definitely do the full 90 min of simmer time. It makes a huge difference for the tenderness of the beef.

This is so good. The mild sourness of the pickled cabbage contrasts beautifully with the savory pork. We’re looking forward to making it again!

Hi Kim, the ideal is that you can use ground turkey, ground chicken or ground pork to make the sausage that uses this recipe’s spice mixture. Hope you will give it a try.

Hi Chun Yang, the size of the shallot could be the problem here. I think I used Walmart size shallots :-) I like what you said, just add more oil when needed or you see fit :-)

Hi Bill, you can use regular cabbage from your local supermarket. Just remember that you have to hand torn the cabbage layers.
